What first attracts them to the property is the variety of floor plans and housing options, which include independent villas and apartments, assisted living amenities, short-term rehabilitation services, long term nursing care and memory care. This past year the community opened Harbor Inn, which consisted of an additional 36 ranch apartments with private entrances and amenities like one-car attached garages and 60 mid-rise apartments.

The ranch homes are available for immediate occupancy, said Carolyn Martin, administrator at The Village of East Harbor. They feature an open floor plan and are fully equipped with a kitchen, pantry, 8-foot ceilings with coves, high grade finishes, oversized windows, stackable washer/dryer unit and concrete patio slab perfect for outdoor entertaining.

If you’re looking for a mid-rise apartment, those that feature patios and balconies have been so popular that they are now in limited supply, added Martin. Pick your floor and location as soon as possible for the best selection. Each of the 62 one- and two-bedroom independent living apartments is furnished with a full appliance package. They are fully equipped with the latest smart technology such as a programmable thermostat, outlet in the living room, remote front door lock and light switch so daily activities are more pleasant and safe. Carports are available and all units are pet friendly.

Experience you can trust

The Village of East Harbor is operated by Presbyterian Villages of Michigan (PVM), a leader of premier senior living and services for seniors. A nonprofit, faith-based organization, PVM has more than 30 locations throughout the state and celebrated its 76th anniversary in business this year.

Moving into a senior living community can be a difficult decision for some families as children come to terms that their parents are aging and seniors sell the home where they have lived for years and raised their family. However, with a stellar reputation, families have peace of mind knowing that their loved ones will be properly cared for at The Village of East Harbor. Executive Director David Miller will be celebrating 40 years in the industry next year and the team of professionals he leads specialize in caring for the unique needs of seniors. More importantly, staff members are proud to be at their service. It’s experience and continuity of care that seniors and their families can trust.

Why senior living is fun

The new apartments provide the close-knit community seniors are looking for as they age. Many appreciate being able to make friends with others their own age, have planned enrichment activities to join in based on their interests and continued access to amenities like food venues, transportation options and fitness facilities.

A new bistro close to the midrise and ranch apartments is the perfect choice for a nice meal and a night off from cooking. If you’re looking to socialize with friends, The Village of East Harbor has an engagement coordinator who plans all kinds of activities to meet everyone’s interests. Attend a Frankie Valli concert, enjoy lunch and shopping in downtown Marine City, go on a Christmas light tour, celebrate the holidays at the Ugly Sweater Christmas Party and converse with friends at women’s and men’s luncheons. In the past, residents have enjoyed a visit from Three Men and a Tenor and so much more.

The Village of East Harbor is situated on a breathtaking 44-acre scenic campus. Although conveniently located near shopping areas, medical facilities and entertainment options, the Village preserves natural areas and green spaces that are home to beautiful wildlife like deer and fox. The new ranch apartments will back up to wooded areas, creating a scenic and peaceful setting.

A focus on wellness

The Village of East Harbor has a fitness specialist on staff. A new on-site wellness center equipped with a variety of exercise equipment offers numerous classes. With the addition of the new wellness center, services have expanded for those ages 55 and older.

In addition, residents have access to a wide variety of support services available as requested, including short-term rehabilitation services after an injury, illness or surgery; and other comprehensive care options like enhanced living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing care, long term nursing care and respite services. Residents can transition into other living arrangements and take advantage of additional services as their needs change. Residents have priority access for all levels of care as needed.
